Gold Coast Airport sits at Coolangatta on the Queensland–New South Wales border, making it the closest jet airport to Byron Bay, Lennox Head and Ballina. Bay2Coast welcomes you inside the terminal, monitors your arrival and provides a direct private journey south into the Northern Rivers at a fixed fare.
Gold Coast Airport is a single passenger terminal at Coolangatta, with domestic and international arrivals in the same building and the beach a few hundred metres away. It is compact: baggage claim is a short walk from the gates, and the pickup area is close to the doors rather than several levels down.
We wait inside the terminal near the carousel with your name, take your bags and walk you to the vehicle. There is no rank to queue in, no app to open and no negotiation about crossing the state border.
The airport sits on the Queensland–New South Wales border, so the drive south crosses into New South Wales within minutes at Tweed Heads. Between early October and early April, New South Wales observes daylight saving and Queensland does not, which means Byron Bay, Ballina and Lennox Head all run an hour ahead of the terminal clock.
It catches out more travellers than any other detail on this coast. We schedule every pickup against your flight number, so the difference is handled before you land.
We normally leave Byron Bay about two and a half hours before a domestic departure and earlier for an international one, allowing for Ewingsdale Road and the border traffic at Tweed Heads. Give us the flight number and the terminal clock difference is our problem, not yours.
Where do you meet me at Gold Coast Airport? Inside the terminal near the baggage carousel, with your name on a sign. From there it is a short walk to the vehicle.
What if my flight is delayed? We monitor your flight and adjust, and there is up to 60 minutes of waiting from your scheduled pickup time. You do not need to call us.
How long is the drive into the Northern Rivers? About 50 minutes to Byron Bay, an hour and five minutes to Lennox Head and an hour and ten to Ballina, traffic depending.
Does the daylight-saving difference affect my pickup? From October to April the airport clock in Queensland runs an hour behind Northern Rivers time. We set pickup times against your flight, so it is handled for you.
