The airport sits on the Queensland–New South Wales border, so the drive south crosses into New South Wales within minutes at Tweed Heads. Between early October and early April, New South Wales observes daylight saving and Queensland does not, which means Byron Bay, Ballina and Lennox Head all run an hour ahead of the terminal clock.
