The Tweed Coast is one of the shortest airport runs we do. Gold Coast Airport sits right on the border at Coolangatta, which puts Kingscliff, Casuarina and Cabarita Beach within half an hour of the terminal, yet public transport down that stretch is thin once you are off the highway.
Coolangatta is the obvious choice. Tweed Heads is a matter of minutes, Kingscliff and Casuarina around 20 to 25, Cabarita Beach closer to 30. Fares are quoted on real driving distance from $59 and confirmed before you book.
Two local details are worth knowing. The airport straddles the state border, and Queensland does not observe daylight saving, so from October to April the terminal clock reads an hour behind your accommodation. We set pickup times against your flight, not the local clock.

For long-haul arrivals this is usually the better plan overall: one vehicle from the terminal door to the beach, instead of a domestic connection with another check-in and baggage transfer.
Coming up from the south, Ballina is about an hour and 20 minutes from Kingscliff via the motorway. It suits guests already flying the Sydney, Melbourne or Newcastle routes, or those combining a Byron Bay stay with time on the Tweed.
Kingscliff village, Casuarina and Cabarita are spread along the coast road rather than clustered, so a lot of guests skip a hire car and book point-to-point journeys instead: dinner in Kingscliff, a day in Byron Bay, a hinterland run to Murwillumbah. Those are quoted by distance the same way.
For departures we plan from your check-in window. A domestic flight out of Coolangatta usually means leaving Kingscliff around two hours before boarding, and considerably earlier for an international departure from Brisbane.
